Built Different, Trained Right
The work you put in during these years will be the foundation every future version of you stands on.
What are athletic foundations and Why Does It Matter at This Age?
Athletic foundations are the physical qualities that every sport depends on: strength, power, speed, reactive ability, and the capacity to absorb and redirect force. For athletes 14 and older, these are not beginner skills. They are the base that determines how fast an athlete can progress, how well they hold up over a season, and how much of their potential they get to use.
Athletic ability is a trainable quality, and the athletes who treat it that way close the gap on those who rely on natural talent. Speed, power, and resilience all respond to well structured, well coached training. This program builds the base beneath them: sound movement mechanics, real strength, elastic power, and the ability to make good decisions at pace. Each component is included because sport demands all of it.
Winter is the right time to commit to this work. Athletes who are in season need to protect their speed and strength through a long competitive schedule. Athletes who are between seasons have a valuable window to build capacity without the demands of weekly competition. Either way, the months from now to spring determine who arrives at the next season ahead and who arrives where they left off.
This program is designed for athletes aged 14 and up across all sport backgrounds. Competing athletes will find direct transfer to the field, court, or rink. Athletes who are newer to structured training will find a high quality entry point into serious athletic development, delivered with technical coaching and individual attention.
How this program is structured
At the 14 and up level, plyometric training moves from exposure to development. The stretch shortening cycle is trained with progressively higher demands in intensity, complexity, and ground contact time. Athletes build the elastic qualities of the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia, develop stiffness through the posterior chain, and learn to express reactive strength through bounding, depth drops, and multi-directional jumping tasks.
Landing mechanics receive equal attention. Force absorption across single-leg and double-leg conditions, deceleration, and the ability to load and redirect force under fatigue are all coached explicitly. These qualities allow athletes to train and compete at high intensity without accumulating breakdown across a winter season.
Strength training is the foundation for all of it. Athletes work through fundamental movement patterns with progressive loading to build force production, structural resilience, and the capacity to repeat high quality efforts. Session volume and intensity are managed around each athlete's competitive schedule, so training supports performance rather than competing with it.
Agility is developed progressively as the ability to read a situation and respond, rather than repeat a planned pattern. By the later weeks, athletes work in conditions that reflect the pace and unpredictability of competition. They process what is happening around them and decide how, when, and where to move. This perceptual and cognitive layer is what separates athletes who look athletic in training from athletes who perform in their sport.
